As an emerging voice in poetry, each recognition and publication marks a significant milestone in my writing journey. This page celebrates the early steps of my poetic career, showcasing the moments where my words have resonated with readers and judges alike.
From my first published poem to my inaugural contest win, these achievements represent personal triumphs and the beginning of a dialogue with a broader audience. They testify to the power of perseverance and the joy of artistic expression. As I continue to grow and evolve as a poet, I look forward to adding new chapters to this story of creative exploration.
“Aria”
Poetry Chapbook
February, 2025
Michael is thrilled to introduce his debut poetry chapbook,
Aria, set to launch in February 2025. Most of the twenty-six
poems in this collection begin with simple observations of
everyday life, then veer off into darker territory, the uneven landscape of human existence. They aim to provoke a range
of responses, inviting readers to laugh and reflect upon
the profundity found in the mundane moments of our lives.

“Writing Prompt”
Walt Whitman:
Two Hundred and Five
Local Gems Press
Michael likes to say one of the incentives that spurred his desire
to write poetry came from Walt Whitman’s call to one and all
to add their voices to the universal chorus, to sound their
“barbaric yawp” over the rooftops of the world. So he was thrilled
when he learned his poem “Writing Prompt” was chosen to be
included in an anthology celebrating the great poet’s birthday,
Walt Whitman: Two Hundred and Five (Local Gems Press).
